Lin Yu-min struck out 10 over eight scoreless innings as Chinese Taipei defeated China 5-1 on Sunday, September 27, to win the men’s baseball bronze medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The left-hander allowed only one hit and one walk, giving Chinese Taipei control of the medal game before the offense pulled away late.

The result gave Chinese Taipei its fourth Asian Games baseball bronze medal. The program has also won two gold medals and four silvers in the competition. It was Chinese Taipei’s 10th consecutive Asian Games victory over China.

Lin Yu-min controls the bronze-medal game

Lin faced little sustained pressure across his eight innings. China’s lineup managed only one hit against him, while his 10 strikeouts kept runners from advancing and allowed Chinese Taipei to play from in front after an early breakthrough.

Yang Po-hsiang supplied that breakthrough in the second inning. With two runners aboard, Yang drove a two-run triple to put Chinese Taipei ahead 2-0.

The score remained there until the seventh, when Chinese Taipei turned a close game into a comfortable lead. Chen Min-shih doubled home two runs, and Kao Yu-wei followed with an RBI double to make it 5-0.

Chinese Taipei closes out bronze

Wang Cheng-hao replaced Lin for the ninth inning. China avoided the shutout when Luan Chenchen delivered an RBI single, but the rally stopped there.

Chinese Taipei finished with 13 hits, compared with three for China. The combination of Lin’s command and a balanced attack ensured the team left Nagoya with a medal after missing out on the gold-medal game.

The bronze also added another chapter to Chinese Taipei’s strong Asian Games record. Lin’s performance was the defining one: eight scoreless innings in a medal game, with only two batters reaching safely against him.
