LMB news
The Mexican Baseball League, explained
Founded in 1925, the LMB is Mexico's oldest professional sports league and one of the biggest baseball leagues in the world, with 20 teams from Tijuana to Mérida. It plays in the summer, from April to September, while the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico takes over in winter. Although it is not part of the MLB minor leagues, the level is high: former big leaguers, Mexican stars and young prospects all play here.
How the LMB season works
The 20 clubs are split into a Zona Norte and a Zona Sur of 10 teams. The 2026 regular season ran from April 16 to August 6. The best teams in each zone then play three playoff rounds within their zone, and the two zone champions meet in the Serie del Rey, the best-of-seven championship series.
Serie del Rey 2026
Toros de Tijuana won the 2026 title, beating Olmecas de Tabasco 4-2 in the Serie del Rey. Tijuana had finished the regular season 60-31, one of the best records in the league.
