Professional baseball in Taiwan
Baseball is Taiwan's national sport, and the CPBL has been its professional top level since the league was founded in 1989. Games are known for their atmosphere: cheer squads, drums and organised chants for every batter. The league combines Taiwanese players, several of whom have also played in MLB or NPB, with foreign imports, mostly pitchers from the Americas.
How the CPBL season works
Each club plays 120 regular-season games, split into a first and a second half with a separate standing for each half. In 2026 the regular season ran from March 28 to October 6. The half-season results and the full-season standings decide the postseason, which ends with the best-of-seven Taiwan Series.
