Gabriel Noriega Reaches 500 LVBP Hits Against Former Club
Gabriel Noriega became the 95th player with 500 LVBP hits as Caribes de Anzoátegui beat Magallanes 13-7 on October 23, 2026.

Gabriel Noriega collected the 500th hit of his Venezuelan Professional Baseball League career on Friday, October 23, becoming the 95th player to reach the milestone as Caribes de Anzoátegui defeated Navegantes del Magallanes 13-7 in Valencia.
The 36-year-old infielder reached the mark with a second-inning hit off Magallanes right-hander Ismael Ágreda. It was a fitting opponent for a veteran who previously played for the Navegantes and is now in his 15th LVBP season with his sixth club.
Milestone comes in Caribes’ 18-hit victory
Noriega’s landmark hit was part of a busy night for the Caribes offense at Estadio José Bernardo Pérez. Anzoátegui finished with 18 hits, including three apiece from Leonel Valera, Robert Pérez Jr. and Omar Eliézer Alfonzo.
Caribes had lost Thursday’s series opener 4-1 but answered emphatically to split the two-game set. Friday’s win improved their record to 7-3, half a game behind first-place Tigres de Aragua. Magallanes fell to 2-8.
A milestone built across six Venezuelan clubs
Noriega made his LVBP debut with Cardenales de Lara in the 2012-13 season. His career has since taken him through Bravos de Margarita, Tigres de Aragua, Navegantes del Magallanes and Leones del Caracas before his move to Caribes ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
One of his standout seasons came with Caracas in 2023-24, when he won the league batting title with a .376 average. His arrival in Anzoátegui this year followed a June trade that also sent Orlando Arcia to Caribes.
Noriega is the second player to reach 500 LVBP hits this week. Magallanes outfielder Breyvic Valera became the 94th member of the club earlier in the week; Noriega followed as No. 95 on Friday.
For a player whose career has spanned more than a decade and half a dozen uniforms, the number reflects something more enduring than one big night: sustained production in Venezuela’s winter league.
