Gorkys Hernández Homers Twice as Tigres Rout Magallanes
Gorkys Hernández hit two home runs and drove in four as Tigres de Aragua routed defending LVBP champion Magallanes 11-3.

Gorkys Hernández hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Tigres de Aragua overwhelmed the defending champion Navegantes del Magallanes 11-3 on Thursday, October 15, at Estadio José Pérez Colmenares in Maracay.
Hernández went 2-for-4, scored three times and supplied the biggest swings in a four-homer night for Aragua. The victory moved the Tigres to 2-1, while Magallanes fell to 0-3 after allowing 31 runs in its first three games of the 2026-27 LVBP season.
Hernández starts and breaks open the rout
Hernández put Aragua in front with two outs in the first inning, driving a solo homer off Magallanes starter Drew Parrish. Alberth Martínez followed with another solo shot, giving the Tigres back-to-back home runs and an immediate 2-0 lead.
The center fielder reached on a walk in the third and scored on Leobaldo Piña’s ground-rule double. Magallanes finally answered in the sixth when Thairo Estrada doubled home Breyvic Valera, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
That response lasted only a few minutes. Hernández came up again in the bottom half with Lorenzo Cedrola and Keyber Rodríguez aboard and launched his second homer of the night, a three-run drive off reliever Amílcar Chirinos that pushed the lead to 6-1.
René Pinto added a two-run single later in the inning, turning the game into an 8-1 rout. David Rodríguez then hit a three-run homer in the seventh to complete Aragua’s scoring.
Tigres punish defending champions
Aragua finished with 13 hits and six extra-base hits. Martínez went 2-for-3 with his solo homer and scored three times, while Rodríguez went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
Magallanes collected eight hits but went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. The Navegantes scored twice in the eighth, but the late rally did little to change a game controlled by the Tigres from the first inning.
The result continued a difficult opening week for the reigning LVBP champions. Magallanes has lost all three of its games and has been outscored 31-12, while Aragua’s power display gave the home crowd a decisive win in the Tigres’ first game in Maracay this season.
