Victor Reyes finished the 2026 KBO regular season with a record 211 hits, collecting four hits and a home run as the Lotte Giants beat the Doosan Bears 7-4 on Monday, October 12, at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.

The Venezuelan switch hitter won the KBO hits title for a third consecutive season and held off KT Wiz outfielder Choi Won-jun, who produced three hits in his finale to finish at 208. Reyes became the first foreign player in KBO history to lead the league in hits three years in a row.

Four-hit finale carries Reyes to 211

Reyes entered the final day with 207 hits, two ahead of Choi, and batted leadoff as Lotte’s designated hitter. He went hitless in the first inning before beginning a four-hit surge that kept him in front throughout a back-and-forth race taking place at two different ballparks.

His first hit was an RBI single in the second inning. Reyes then singled again in the fourth before driving his 210th hit over the left-field wall for a solo home run in the sixth.

Choi continued to apply pressure in Daegu, but Reyes ended the race in the eighth. His fourth hit, a single up the middle, lifted his season total to 211. Lotte immediately replaced him with pinch runner Park Chan-hyeong, and Reyes received an ovation from both the Giants and Bears supporters.

Reyes breaks his own KBO record

The previous single-season record also belonged to Reyes. He recorded 202 hits in 2024, surpassing Seo Geon-chang’s former mark of 201, and followed with a league-leading 187 hits in 2025.

His 2026 total moved the standard nine hits higher and made him the first player in KBO history to reach 210 hits in a season. Reyes also completed another remarkable durability streak: 144 games played in each of his first three Korean seasons.

Across those 432 consecutive games, Reyes has accumulated exactly 600 hits. His three-year totals underline both the consistency and volume behind the record—202 hits in 2024, 187 in 2025 and 211 in 2026.

Reyes finished this season batting .363 with 18 home runs and 109 RBIs. His four-hit finale included two hits from each side of the plate.

Lotte closes the season with a win

Lotte’s 7-4 victory moved the Giants into seventh place to finish the regular season. Han Dong-hee and Son Seong-bin also homered, while the lineup combined for 15 hits.

Doosan had already secured fifth place and will face the fourth-place LG Twins in the KBO Wild Card Series beginning October 14.

For Reyes, the final standings could not diminish a historic personal finish. With Choi producing three hits elsewhere, Reyes answered with four of his own—including a home run—to turn the last night of the season into a record that may stand for years.
