Jesús Madé Homers on First LIDOM Swing as Licey Wins 12-2
Jesús Madé homered on his first LIDOM swing and Adonis Medina struck out nine as Tigres del Licey beat Escogido 12-2 on opening night.

Jesús Madé homered on the first swing of his LIDOM career and Adonis Medina struck out nine over five innings as Tigres del Licey opened the 2026-27 Dominican winter-league season with a 12-2 win over defending champion Leones del Escogido on Friday night at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal.
Madé, the Milwaukee Brewers’ top prospect, drove a 0-1 slider from right-hander Jeremy Rhoades 408 feet to right field. The solo shot left his bat at 106.7 mph and immediately gave Licey a lead in the Santo Domingo rivalry game.
Madé makes LIDOM history on debut
The 18-year-old became the 29th player in the league’s 75-year history to homer in his first plate appearance, according to figures cited by Licey from historian Tony Grullón. He was also the seventh player to achieve the feat in a Tigres uniform and the 10th to do it at Estadio Quisqueya.
Madé finished 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs and two RBIs. His debut followed a season in which he hit .271 with a .344 on-base percentage, 14 home runs, 24 doubles, 87 runs and 91 RBIs for Double-A Biloxi.
Escogido answered in the first inning when Junior Lake singled home Erik González, but Licey quickly took control. Kevin Alcántara doubled in his first LIDOM at-bat and scored on Francisco Mejía’s RBI single as the Tigres moved ahead 3-1 in the second.
Licey’s young core drives a 12-run night
Madé singled and scored during a three-run third inning, and Licey kept adding pressure throughout the night. Alcántara went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Mel Rojas Jr. collected three hits, scored twice and drove in three, while Mejía went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Medina supplied the pitching foundation. The right-hander allowed one run on three hits across five innings and established a LIDOM career high with nine strikeouts. Michael Arias, Luis Peralta and Jordi Martínez each followed with a scoreless inning before Escogido scored once in the ninth.
The margin mattered, but Madé’s first swing was the lasting image of opening night. One of baseball’s most closely watched young players did not need an adjustment period before announcing himself in the Dominican Republic’s top winter league.
