The Tampa Bay Rays stayed alive in the 2026 World Series when Ben Williamson lined a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th inning for a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Tropicana Field on Tuesday night, October 27.

Williamson’s hit completed a two-run response after Milwaukee rookie Cooper Pratt had put the Brewers ahead with a solo home run in the top half of the inning. The Rays cut Milwaukee’s series lead to 3-1 and forced Game 5 on Wednesday night in St. Petersburg.

Rays answer Pratt’s go-ahead home run

Pratt appeared to deliver the championship blow when he drove an Ian Seymour pitch out in the top of the 12th, breaking a 2-2 tie and moving Milwaukee three outs from the first World Series title in franchise history.

Tampa Bay answered against left-hander Shane Drohan. Jonny DeLuca delivered the game-tying single, and Williamson followed with the hit that brought home the winning run and triggered a celebration at Tropicana Field.

The sequence rescued the Rays after they had been held scoreless from the fifth through the 11th innings. It also ended a tense game in which neither club led by more than one run.

Game 4 stayed level after the fifth

Chandler Simpson opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning. Milwaukee tied the game in the fourth when Sal Frelick singled and scored on Pratt’s double.

The Rays moved back in front later in the fourth. Junior Caminero reached on a single, advanced to second and scored when DeLuca’s ground ball produced a throwing error after a replay review. David Hamilton erased that advantage in the fifth with a solo home run off Tampa Bay starter Griffin Jax.

From there, both bullpens kept the score at 2-2 through the end of the 11th. Milwaukee’s Aaron Ashby added another scoreless appearance to his postseason relief streak, while Tampa Bay survived several late threats before the 12th-inning exchange.

World Series moves to Game 5

Milwaukee still holds a commanding 3-1 lead and remains one victory from its first championship. Tampa Bay, however, has extended the series and created another home game after absorbing a 10-1 loss in Game 3.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, at 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field. A Rays victory would send the World Series back to Milwaukee for Game 6 on Friday.
