Stade Toulousain Tigers

The Stade Toulousain Tigers are the senior baseball team of Stade Toulousain Baseball & Softball, one of the leading baseball organizations in southwestern France. The club was founded in 1987 and originally became known as the Tigers de Toulouse. Over the following decades, Toulouse established itself in the French baseball system and competed at the country's highest level. A major change in the club's identity took place in 2004, when the Tigers became part of the Stade Toulousain omnisports organization. The move connected the baseball club with one of Toulouse's most recognizable sporting institutions while allowing the Tigers identity to remain an important part of the baseball section. Today, the organization operates teams across several age groups and disciplines, including baseball and softball, with the senior Tigers representing Toulouse in Division 1. From the Toulouse Tigers to Stade Toulousain Baseball in Toulouse developed significantly during the late 1980s and 1990s. Founded in 1987, the Tigers progressed through the French league system and eventually reached the country's top level. For many years the club competed under the Tigers identity independently of Stade Toulousain. That changed in 2004 when the baseball organization joined the Stade Toulousain omnisports structure. The transition created the modern Stade Toulousain Baseball identity. Although the official organization became closely associated with Stade Toulousain, the Tigers nickname continued to be used for the baseball team and remains visible in French national competition. The club's red-and-black identity also reflects its connection with Stade Toulousain, linking baseball to the wider sporting culture of the city. The 2018 Division 2 Championship One of the most important moments in the Tigers' recent history came in 2018. After competing in Division 2, Toulouse reached the championship final and won the French Division 2 title. The championship provided an important step in the club's return toward the highest level of French baseball. The achievement was particularly significant after Toulouse had spent many earlier seasons competing among France's leading clubs. Winning Division 2 demonstrated the organization's ability to rebuild while continuing to develop players and maintain a competitive senior program. The Tigers subsequently returned to Division 1 and once again became part of the national championship. Stade Toulousain Tigers in Division 1 The Tigers compete in Division 1 Baseball, the highest national baseball championship organized in France. The competition brings Toulouse up against established French clubs including the Rouen Huskies, Savigny Lions, Montpellier Barracudas, Sénart Templiers, La Rochelle Boucaniers and other leading teams from around the country. Division 1 provides the Tigers with regular competition at the highest domestic level and places Toulouse within the national French baseball structure. During the 2026 season, Toulouse again competed in Division 1 and was also selected as one of the eight clubs participating in the Challenge de France. The Tigers were hosts of the tournament, with games played in Toulouse and Bon-Encontre. Toulouse remained competitive throughout the 2026 Division 1 regular season, recording victories against some of the strongest teams in France. Although the Tigers did not advance to the season's Final Four, their continued presence in Division 1 underlined the club's position at the top level of French baseball. Baseball Development in Toulouse The Stade Toulousain organization places significant emphasis on player development. Rather than operating only a senior Division 1 team, the club runs baseball programs across multiple age categories. Young players can progress through the organization before moving toward junior and senior competition. The club also supports softball and Baseball5, allowing Stade Toulousain Baseball & Softball to participate in several disciplines recognized by the French Baseball and Softball Federation. Its facilities at Les Argoulets are an important part of that development structure. Dedicated batting facilities, training areas and a permanent Division 1-standard field allow players to train and compete at the same location. This combination of youth development and senior baseball gives Toulouse a structure designed to maintain a long-term presence in French national competition. The Tigers and Baseball in Southwestern France Toulouse occupies an important geographical position within French baseball. While several of France's best-known baseball clubs are located around Paris or in northern France, the Tigers provide Division 1 baseball in one of the country's largest cities in the southwest. Their location also places the club within a wider baseball community in the Occitanie region. Stade Toulousain's youth, reserve and senior programs give players from Toulouse and the surrounding area a pathway toward national-level baseball without having to leave the region. Hosting competitions such as the Challenge de France further strengthens that role. National events at the Stade de Baseball des Argoulets bring leading French teams to Toulouse and increase the visibility of the sport in the city. Stade Toulousain Baseball Today Stade Toulousain Baseball & Softball has developed considerably since the original Tigers de Toulouse were founded in 1987. What began as an independent baseball club has become a multi-team organization connected to the Stade Toulousain sporting structure. The Tigers have experienced different levels of the French league system, won the Division 2 championship in 2018 and returned to compete against the country's leading baseball teams. The Stade de Baseball des Argoulets provides the organization with a permanent home, while its youth and development programs form the basis for the club's future. For followers of French baseball, the Stade Toulousain Tigers represent Toulouse at the highest domestic level and remain one of the established baseball organizations in southwestern France.
