Trevor Bauer is scheduled to make his Estrellas Orientales debut on Tuesday, October 27, against Águilas Cibaeñas at Estadio Tetelo Vargas in San Pedro de Macorís. The right-hander announced the date on Thursday, turning one of the Dominican winter league’s most closely watched signings into a confirmed pitching assignment.

LIDOM lists the game for 7:30 p.m. local time. It would be the first winter-league appearance of Bauer’s professional career, following stints in Major League Baseball, Japan, Mexico and the independent Atlantic League.

A debut date after September signing

Estrellas announced Bauer’s arrival in September, but the club had not identified when he would take the mound. His October 27 assignment now gives the team a specific date for the former National League Cy Young Award winner’s first start in the 2026–27 season.

The opponent adds a familiar Dominican baseball setting: Águilas Cibaeñas will visit Estrellas’ home ballpark, Estadio Tetelo Vargas, in a regular-season game rather than an exhibition.

Bauer arrives after a season in the United States and Mexico

Bauer, 35, began 2026 with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. He went 5–1 with a 2.36 ERA in 11 starts before returning to the Diablos Rojos del México, where he recorded a 4–1 mark and 4.41 ERA in five Mexican League starts, according to Dominican newspaper Diario Libre.

He previously pitched for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan in 2023 and 2025 and won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020. His return to Caribbean baseball adds an internationally recognized name to an Estrellas rotation competing in the early weeks of the Dominican season.
