Seven Tigres del Licey pitchers combined for a no-hitter in a 3-0 victory over the Toros del Este on Wednesday, October 21, at Estadio Francisco Micheli in La Romana. The performance was the 12th no-hitter in LIDOM history and the fifth by Licey, lifting the Tigres to 4-1 and first place early in the 2026-27 season.

Seven pitchers finish the job

Luis Gil started and recorded seven outs before the bullpen took over. Randel Clemente finished the third inning, Alexander Cornielle worked two perfect frames, and Michael Arias, Luis Frías, Wander Suero and J.C. Mejía each covered an inning to preserve the no-hit bid.

The Toros reached base through walks and two ninth-inning hit batters, but they never broke through. Suero erased a leadoff walk in the eighth by inducing a 6-4-3 double play, while Mejía recovered after hitting Ronny Simón and Jesús Sánchez with two outs in the ninth. Allan Castro popped out to first baseman Ramón Hernández for the final out.

Estevan Florial drives in two

Estevan Florial supplied most of the offense for Licey. His fourth-inning single brought home Ramón Hernández with the first run, and he doubled in Cristhian Adames in the eighth. Sergio Alcántara scored the other run on a bases-loaded balk in the seventh.

The three runs were enough for a pitching staff that struck out 10 and stopped a Toros team that entered the night on a three-game winning streak. Licey earned its third consecutive victory, while Toros fell to 3-2.

History repeats in La Romana

The setting and opponent added another layer to the achievement. Licey’s previous no-hitter also came against the Toros at Estadio Francisco Micheli, a 2-0 win on November 1, 2022.

Mejía was part of both games. Four years ago, he joined Lisalverto Bonilla, Elniery García, Arodys Vizcaíno and Jairo Asencio in the combined effort. This time, seven pitchers shared the milestone as Licey moved alone to the top of the LIDOM standings.
