Daniel Montaño hit two solo home runs and rookie Roynier Hernández delivered the decisive two-run shot as Tiburones de La Guaira beat Tigres de Aragua 4-3 on Thursday, November 5, at Estadio José Pérez Colmenares in Maracay.

Every run in the LVBP game came on a home run. Montaño supplied three of La Guaira’s 10 hits and Hernández completed the comeback in the seventh inning, giving Tiburones their first win over Tigres this season.

Five home runs account for all seven runs

Montaño opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second inning, his first of the season. Tigres answered immediately when René Pinto hit a two-run home run in the bottom half, and Jorbit Vivas added a solo shot in the third to put Aragua ahead 3-1.

Montaño struck again in the fourth, sending another solo homer over the right-field wall. The Tiburones designated hitter finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBIs and two runs scored.

The score remained 3-2 until the seventh. Rafael Marchán reached base before Hernández drove a Christian Mejías pitch out for a two-run homer, turning the game in La Guaira’s favor. Hernández went 2-for-4 with a double, the go-ahead home run and two RBIs.

Tiburones bullpen shuts down Tigres

La Guaira starter Brander Guevara worked four innings, allowing six hits and three unearned runs with three walks and one strikeout. The Tiburones bullpen then covered five scoreless innings while allowing only one hit.

Jorgan Cavanerio retired the side in order in the fifth, and Adisyn Coffey followed with a perfect inning and one strikeout to earn his first win of the season. Ramón Santos and Alex Carrillo protected the one-run lead before Eduardo Paredes closed the ninth for his fourth save.

Mejías took the loss after surrendering Hernández’s go-ahead homer. Tigres starter Jean Pinto allowed two runs on four hits across five innings, striking out two without issuing a walk.

The victory moved Tiburones to 9-12 and narrowed Tigres’ advantage in the season series to 2-1. Aragua fell to 11-8. The clubs are scheduled to meet again Friday night at Estadio Universitario in Caracas.
