Bauers flips Game 3 in the seventh
Jackson Chourio gave Milwaukee an immediate lead by homering on Blake Snell’s first pitch of the game. Robert Gasser protected that advantage with five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk.
The Dodgers finally broke through in the sixth. Abner Uribe issued three walks, and Will Smith drove a two-run double off the wall to put Los Angeles ahead 2-1. It was the Dodgers’ first lead of the series, but it lasted only a few minutes.
Snell returned for the seventh and walked Andrew Vaughn. Bauers then battled through 11 pitches, fouling off five before driving a two-run homer into the right-field pavilion. Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo shot two pitches later, stretching Milwaukee’s lead to 4-2.
Snell was charged with four runs on four hits and two walks over six-plus innings. He struck out nine and had retired 14 consecutive hitters before the seventh-inning rally.
Brewers move within one win of the pennant
Milwaukee kept adding pressure after taking the lead. Brice Turang scored on a wild pitch in the eighth, and Joey Ortiz delivered an RBI single in the ninth.
DL Hall earned the win after retiring all five batters he faced, striking out two. Trevor Megill recorded the final four outs for the save, also with two strikeouts.
The Brewers now have four opportunities to secure one victory and advance to the World Series. Los Angeles will start Tyler Glasnow in Game 4 on Thursday, while Milwaukee had not announced its starter immediately after Game 3. First pitch is scheduled for 5:08 p.m. Pacific Time at Dodger Stadium.
