CTBC Brothers Clinch CPBL Second-Half Title With 12-1 Rout
CTBC Brothers beat the TSG Hawks 12-1 to clinch the 2026 CPBL second-half title and a playoff series against the Uni-President Lions.

The CTBC Brothers completed one of the CPBL season’s sharpest turnarounds on Sunday, routing the TSG Hawks 12-1 at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium to clinch the 2026 second-half championship and a place in the postseason challenge series.
The Brothers finished the second half 36-24 and celebrated in front of a sellout crowd of 20,000. It was the franchise’s league-record 21st half-season title, secured only months after CTBC finished last in the first half with a 20-37-2 record.
Nivaldo Rodriguez shuts down TSG
Nivaldo Rodriguez delivered the clinching performance. The right-hander allowed one run on four hits across seven innings, struck out five and needed 90 pitches to earn his 12th win of the season.
CTBC gave him an immediate cushion with three runs in the first inning. The Brothers added two in the fifth, four in the seventh and three more in the eighth, finishing with 13 hits and no errors.
Wang Wei-chen led the offense with three hits and four RBIs. Huang Wei-sheng also drove in four runs, helping turn a title-deciding game into a comfortable celebration.
Brothers earn postseason advantage
The second-half championship sends CTBC into a playoff challenge series against the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions beginning Friday, October 9. The Brothers will host the opener in Taichung before the series moves to Tainan for Game 2.
Because CTBC won the second half, it will enter the series with a one-win advantage. The first team to reach three wins advances, so the Brothers need two on-field victories while the Lions need three.
The winner will face the Wei Chuan Dragons in the Taiwan Series. Wei Chuan earned direct entry by winning the first half and posting the CPBL’s best full-season winning percentage.
For CTBC, the title is more than another trophy in the club’s long history. The Brothers went from the bottom of the six-team league in the first half to a .600 second-half winning percentage, and they now need only two more wins to reach the championship series.
