Tseng Sheng-an hit a key home run and Mason Sasser delivered six strong innings as the Wei Chuan Dragons beat the CTBC Brothers 3-1 on Sunday, October 18, taking a 2-0 lead in the 2026 Taiwan Series.

All four runs at Taipei Dome came in the fifth inning. The Brothers scored first, but Wei Chuan immediately answered with three runs in the bottom half and protected that lead through the final out.

Tseng, a 19-year-old outfielder, was named Game 2 MVP after going 1-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored. His swing was the biggest blow in a championship series already being controlled by the Dragons’ pitching staff.

Sasser and Dragons bullpen shut down Brothers

Sasser limited the Brothers to one run on five hits across six innings. The right-hander threw 85 pitches, struck out three and walked one before turning the game over to Wei Chuan’s bullpen.

Lin Tzu-yu worked the seventh, Chen Kuan-wei handled the eighth and Lin Kai-wei closed the ninth with an eight-pitch inning. The three relievers combined to allow one hit and no walks over three scoreless frames.

The save was Lin Kai-wei’s second of the Taiwan Series. Wei Chuan pitching has now held the Brothers to one run across the first 18 innings of the championship round, following John Gant’s eight scoreless innings in a 3-0 Game 1 victory.

One inning decides a tight Game 2

CTBC starter Félix Peña kept the Dragons scoreless through four innings before Wei Chuan broke through in the fifth. Peña was charged with three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings.

The Dragons finished with only four hits, but they paired their timely contact with five walks and capitalized on two Brothers errors. CTBC collected six hits, including two each from Chen Chun-hsiu and catcher Kao Yu-chieh, but went scoreless in every inning except the fifth.

Game 2 reinforced the early shape of the series: neither club has produced sustained offense, but Wei Chuan has turned its limited opportunities into runs while its starters and bullpen have left almost no margin for a comeback.

Wei Chuan heads to Taichung with 2-0 lead

The Taiwan Series moves to Taichung for Game 3 on Tuesday, October 20. The Brothers will return home needing a response after losing both games at Taipei Dome, while the Dragons are two wins from their first CPBL championship since 2023.

For Wei Chuan, the road victory formula is already clear: keep the game close, lean on a rested bullpen and wait for one swing to change the night. On Sunday, that swing belonged to Tseng Sheng-an.
