Steven Moya Claims Three CPBL Batting Titles as John Gant Wins Pitching Double
Steven Moya won the CPBL hits, home run and RBI titles, while John Gant led the league in ERA and strikeouts as the 2026 awards were announced.

Steven Moya claimed three of the Chinese Professional Baseball League’s major batting titles in 2026, while John Gant completed a pitching double by leading the league in both ERA and strikeouts. The CPBL confirmed its regular-season statistical champions on October 7, putting two foreign stars at the center of the league’s individual awards.
Moya sweeps three power categories
Moya gave the Kaohsiung TSG Hawks the league leader in hits, home runs and RBIs. The 35-year-old played 116 games, collecting 126 hits in 429 at-bats while finishing with 20 home runs and 90 RBIs.
The three-category sweep capped a season built on both availability and power. Moya was the only CPBL hitter to reach 20 home runs, and his 90 RBIs left him clear at the top of another run-producing category.
Uni-President Lions outfielder Chen Chieh-Hsien won the batting title at .322, recording 104 hits in 323 at-bats across 96 games. That kept Moya’s achievement distinct from a traditional batting Triple Crown, but no hitter collected more separate statistical titles.
Gant controls the pitching races
Gant was even more dominant on the mound for the Taipei Wei Chuan Dragons. The former major-league right-hander posted a 1.49 ERA over 133 1/3 innings, allowing only 22 earned runs in 21 appearances. His 136 strikeouts also led the CPBL.
The combination made Gant the league’s only pitcher to win two of the headline statistical crowns. His first season in Taiwan immediately established him as the most difficult qualified starter to score against and the league’s top strikeout arm.
Other 2026 CPBL statistical champions
- Wins: Logan Verrett, CTBC Brothers — 12
- Holds: Takashio Masaki, Uni-President Lions — 25
- Saves: Chung Yun-Hua, Uni-President Lions — 33
- Stolen bases: Chang Cheng-Yu, Taipei Wei Chuan Dragons — 33
Chang converted 33 steals at an 83 percent success rate to earn the first individual title of his CPBL career. Takashio, meanwhile, repeated as the league’s holds leader.
The awards close the book on the regular-season leaderboards before the postseason determines the 2026 champion. For Moya and Gant, the statistical titles also underline how decisively each shaped his club’s season on opposite sides of the ball.
