CTBC Brothers shortstop Chiang Kun-yu won his seventh consecutive Chinese Professional Baseball League Gold Glove on Thursday, October 22, extending his league record for an infielder after another elite defensive season.

Chiang committed just four errors in 425 total chances during the 2026 regular season. He finished with 180 putouts, 241 assists and 57 double plays, producing a .991 fielding percentage that improved on his .990 mark from a year earlier.

Seven seasons, seven Gold Gloves

Chiang has now won the CPBL Gold Glove at shortstop every season since 2020. The uninterrupted run has made him the competition’s standard at one of baseball’s most demanding defensive positions, with Thursday’s award pushing his record for consecutive Gold Gloves by an infielder to seven.

The 26-year-old’s latest honor also arrived during a tense stretch for the Brothers, who remain alive in the Taiwan Series against the Wei Chuan Dragons. Whatever happens in the championship series, Chiang’s regular-season defense has already been recognized as the best at his position again.

CTBC defense earns wider recognition

Chiang was not the only Brothers player honored. Outfielder Sung Sheng-jui earned the first Gold Glove of his career after recording a .996 fielding percentage, giving CTBC two winners on the 2026 list.

Elsewhere around the league, Wei Chuan Dragons second baseman Li Kai-wei collected his fifth consecutive Gold Glove. The full set of winners was selected by 41 voters, with the CPBL’s annual awards ceremony scheduled for November 2 at the Taipei Marriott Hotel.

For Chiang, the numbers reinforce the consistency behind the streak: only four errors across a full season’s workload, plus the range and reliability required to turn 57 double plays. Seven straight awards now stand as both a personal milestone and a new benchmark for CPBL infield defense.
