Drew Gagnon carried a one-hitter through seven scoreless innings as the Wei Chuan Dragons beat the CTBC Brothers 6-0 at Taipei Dome on Tuesday, October 20, moving within one victory of the 2026 Taiwan Series championship.

The first six innings produced a pitching duel and no runs. Wei Chuan then broke the game open with four runs in the seventh before adding two more in the ninth, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Gagnon gives Brothers no room to answer

Gagnon allowed only one baserunner in seven innings: a single by Chang Jen-wei. The right-hander struck out five, issued no walks and completed 96 pitches to earn the Game 3 MVP award.

The Brothers sent only 28 batters to the plate all night. Li Chao and Chao Ching-jung followed Gagnon with one hitless inning apiece, completing a one-hit shutout in which Wei Chuan pitchers did not issue a walk.

CTBC’s offense has now scored just one run through the first three games of the series. The Dragons won the opener 3-0 behind eight scoreless innings from John Gant and took Game 2 by a 3-1 score after Tseng Sheng-an hit a three-run homer.

Four-run seventh decides Game 3

The Brothers’ starter matched Gagnon for six innings, allowing one hit while striking out eight. Once he left, Wei Chuan immediately attacked the bullpen.

The Dragons scored four times in the seventh and twice in the ninth despite finishing with only six hits. Catcher Chiang Shao-hung went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored twice, while Chang Cheng-yu reached four times with two hits and two walks.

Wei Chuan also drew seven walks and committed no errors. CTBC used five relievers after its starter, but the bullpen could not keep the scoreless game intact.

Dragons one win from the championship

The Dragons can secure their sixth Taiwan Series title and their second since returning to the CPBL in Game 4 on Wednesday, October 21. Every game of the 2026 championship series is being played at Taipei Dome.

CTBC now needs four consecutive victories to win the title. Through three games, Wei Chuan has outscored the Brothers 12-1 and recorded two shutouts.
