The Milwaukee Brewers clinched their fourth consecutive National League Central title Tuesday night after beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 at PNC Park and then watching the Chicago Cubs lose to Atlanta. Jacob Misiorowski delivered five scoreless innings in the victory, lowering his major league-leading ERA to 1.89 as Milwaukee secured another division championship.

The Brewers finished their own game with the title not yet official. Roughly 50 minutes later, Atlanta completed a 6-3 win over Chicago, eliminating the final mathematical obstacle and triggering Milwaukee’s celebration in Pittsburgh.

Misiorowski puts Milwaukee on the brink

Misiorowski gave the Brewers exactly the start they needed. The right-hander allowed five singles over five scoreless innings, struck out seven and walked one on 82 pitches.

His velocity was again a defining feature: nine of his first 10 pitches exceeded 100 mph, and 43 of his 82 pitches reached triple digits. The win improved Misiorowski to 15-5 and dropped his ERA to 1.89, while his season strikeout total climbed to 243.

Milwaukee gave him an early lead in the second inning. Jake Bauers singled, advanced on a groundout and a wild pitch, then scored on Luis Lara’s sacrifice fly.

Four-run sixth breaks the game open

The Brewers turned a one-run game into a comfortable lead in the sixth. Brice Turang walked and William Contreras doubled before another walk and a wild pitch brought Turang home. Lara followed with an RBI double, and Joey Ortiz drove in two more with a single.

Ortiz finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Lara also drove in two runs.

Pittsburgh’s only run came in the eighth when Brandon Lowe hit his 30th home run of the season. Rafael Flores Jr. went 4-for-4 for the Pirates, but Milwaukee never allowed the game to become competitive after its sixth-inning rally.

Brewers extend remarkable NL Central run

Milwaukee improved to 94-57 with the victory and has now won six of its last seven games. The division title is the Brewers’ fourth in a row and fifth in the past six seasons.

The franchise has become one of baseball’s most consistent postseason teams, qualifying in eight of the past nine seasons. Milwaukee reached the National League Championship Series in 2025 but was swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, leaving the organization still searching for its first World Series appearance since 1982.

This year’s club will enter October with bigger ambitions. The Brewers have spent much of the season battling for the best record in Major League Baseball, and Misiorowski’s emergence at the front of the rotation gives Milwaukee one of the sport’s most overpowering postseason weapons.

Tuesday night guaranteed the first part of the journey: October baseball will once again run through the NL Central champions.
